Review:

What my 8 year old daughter had to say about YAHTZEE®: Naruto!:  So, it’s really fun. It feels like a gambling game. Note: we haven’t ever taught or played any gambling games with her. One of the things that I would probably change about it is that it’s kind of colorful. If the yellow was a little less bright that’d be better. Because I like lighter tones of yellows. But the Yahtzee character is really cute. I like the size of the sheets because they’re more easier to write on. But if the grids on the sheets were a bit bigger that’d be nice. Over all it’s a nice game. I would play it again and I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.  It was really easy to get a YAHTZEE.

What my 14 year old son had to say about YAHTZEE®: Naruto!:

Gambling addiction. It’s a fun multiplayer game. There’s Ramen. There’s Naruto! It’s interesting?

Overview:

I’m not one for anime nor had I played YAHTZEE in over 20 years. But, when I saw this come available knowing: that YAHTZEE was/is an easy game to learn/teach from what I recollected and that my wife and kids are anime fans, it was a must have.

Rules & Setup:
It’s easy enough! Plop the dice in the ramen bowl. Give everyone a score card. Place the pencil on the table and you’re pretty much good to roll.
On each turn, roll the dice up to 3 times to get the highest scoring combination for one of the 13 categories. After you finish rolling, you must place a score or a zero (This rule was easily forgotten by me, we just didn’t put anything, LOL) in one of the 13 category boxes on your score card. The game ends when all players have filled in their 13 boxes. (Due to my forgetfulness, we just played until the 1st person had filled in all the spots.) Scores are totaled, including and bonus points (Easily Overlooked) The player with the highest total wins.
Theme and Mechanics:

While I don’t know much about the anime, according to the pictures I’ve seen, they nailed it. I’ll have to ask my in home experts. Mechanics, they got it right. When describing this game to my wife I told her YAHTZEE® was the 1st Roll & Write game. I don’t think I’m wrong. Argue the point with me in the comments….

Gameplay:
We played a couple of games. I think I lost each one. But it was pretty fun.
Artwork and Components:

I think they got it right. I especially like the feel that the bowl brings to the table.

The Good:

While I think anxiety in getting games to the table that I have to learn and then teach is just an inevitable part of my life, this one got to the table sooner than most and we had a blast.

The Other:
My only complaint when it comes to YAHTZEE®: Naruto! is it’s LOUD! May I suggest getting a leather dice tray?

Final Thoughts:

Overall this one’s a keeper and better yet I can see it making it to the table quite often.

Players who like: YAHTZEE, Naruto, Dice and having fun should give this one a try.
