A Horde of New 5th Edition Monsters!
DM: “A collection of hundreds of eyes floats down the corridor toward you, trailing ganglia and
dripping caustic fluid that sizzles when it hits the ground. What do you do?”
PLAYER: “I retire, and become a farmer.”
Whether you need dungeon vermin or a world-shaking personification of evil, the Tome of Beasts has
it.
Here are more than 400 new foes for your 5th Edition game-everything from tiny drakes and peculiar
spiders, to demon lords and ancient dragons.
Tome of Beasts includes monsters from the entire history of Kobold Press, with longtime favorites such
as:
- Clockwork creatures
- Drakes and dragons
- Devils and arch-devils
- Dangerous flavors of the fey
- Undead-and much more!
Use them in your favorite published setting, or populate the dungeons in a world of your own creation.
Pick up Tome of Beasts and give your players an encounter they won’t soon forget!
I will be honest about Dungeons and Dragons 5E ; as a DM
(and the rare instances where I am a player), even though I
love the refined combat and sense of development for player
characters, I have often felt uninspired by the general fare
that the 5E Monster Manual has offered.
Sure, it offered all the traditional monsters ; zombies, hags,
dragons and such, but in my eye, most of the enemies felt
flat-out boring.
So when I heard of the opportunity to buy the Tome of Beasts
by Kobold Press several years ago, I felt it was an opportunity
that I could not afford to pass up — I desperately needed the
opportunity to breathe more life into my campaigns and
sessions.
And I must profess, I was not disappointed in the slightest.
Alas, I will not be able to talk too much about what this
massive 5E book has to offer, as I am sure that there are
copyright issues, and I do not want to detract from any of the
hard work that went into the production of this treasure trove
of monster material by posting too many pictures and pages
of monster stats and descriptions that dwell within this hard
cover behemoth.
But I do need to say that if things have been feeling stale for
you in your gaming sessions, you need to try this out!
Over 400 monsters await you, and they all ooze with a
presence that I many times felt is lacking in the official 5E
Monster manual.
The special abilities and characteristics of all of the creatures
in this book makes it a thematic pleasure to plan your latest
dungeon delves. You will almost never be at a loss for ideas,
as the material contained in this book delivers and inspires on
all counts, from fantastic art to covering every facet of terrain
possible in which you can encounter these denizens—land,
sea, air and more.
I wish I could say and show more. But as stated, I have
tremendous respect for the talent and work that went into this
production.
If you want to take your DnD sessions to the next level for your
gamers, this is an essential to have in your collection!
10 / 10 in all areas. This is a great asset for DM’s!
