The throw octopus team reached out to us to review their spiritual successor game soccer duel.
Soccer duel brings to the table all the charms of competitive breakneck pace domino placement… if you have never experienced something like it, you are like us going into this review. I, even after several games, am not very good at this game. However, it is a decent fast paced filler for 2 players while you wait for other tables to open up at game night.
Both players play as fast as they can to try to create completed match sets of soccer ball designs. Since you can only play a tile that is legal on all sides it can get pretty crazy and difficult, but it is fun. This is not my favorite game, but it is fun and definitely family friendly. There is no reading required and it would be easy enough for players of all ages. I think I will stick to throw octopus, but this is fun and will get replayed.8/10 as a quick 1v1 filler game probably 6/10 overall with the low rating because it takes a very niche type of gamer to like everything about this together, but we would stock the game gladly in our store and recommend it to everyone that would enjoy it.
