Parched Brings Utility and Frivolity to the Table.
Parched is the rare game that inspires the tabletop gaming niche and attracts the attention of
non-gamers. The secret to this draw lies in the multi-functional design of the game pieces and
excellent gameplay. The concept for a coaster-based board game began with idea that board
games are works of art that shouldn’t be stored in the back of your closet, so Parched is a game
designed to live on your coffee table or bar top, earning its keep many times over as a game,
coaster set, and aesthetic statement. The game is housed in a wooden display case that is
intended to accent a coffee table or bar top, so that sealed, wooden game tiles are always
within reach to hold a drink. This novel idea isn’t a gimmick, though, the functionality is
interwoven into the story behind the game itself.
Don’t be surprised if you start seeing copies of Parched on your mother’s coffee table and in
your nerdy friends’ game collections because the Kickstarter for Parched is live. Whether you
are looking to pick up a copy for yourself, your friend, your mom, or you simply want to back an
exciting project, you only have a few days left to discover Parched first.
For those who are interested in gameplay: Parched is a coaster-based board game in which two
competing players race to irrigate their hop or coffee bean farm. The octagonal, coaster pieces
are reorganized by opponents through a card-laying mechanic to create a blue line of waterway
edges from the water source to their respective goal coaster. Trick-taking card play is
augmented by action cards allowing large changes in the board state, and the presence of event
cards introduces a small element of randomness. Whatever the methods, the goal is simple:
connect your farm to the water source through a series of irrigation channels.
Parched: A Coaster-Based Board Game will be live on KICKSTARTER until Wed, October 28 2020 10:26 AM PDT, and has a funding goal of $25,000.
