Kickstarter Recap – November 2, 2018

What a crazy week on Kickstarter! I think we saw over twenty five new projects launch this week, including some pretty big ones like Reavers of Midgard, the Welcome To… reprint, Mutants, and Krosmaster: Blast. Our reviewers were all over the place on their picks, and to be honest, so was I. So let’s see what was picked.

The top spot this week belonged to Zoo-Ography from Doomsday Robots. This is a drafting, tile laying game where players are creating their own zoos and trying to complete objectives to score the most points. This one ended up being my pick as I saw it a good fit for my family. They are already over 297% funded!

There was a three-way tie for second place between Mutants, Welcome To…, and Reavers of Midgard. Mutants, from Lucky Duck Games, is a really cool asymmetric deck-construction and deck-building game. Players can choose and build their decks ahead of time or play with the pre-constructed decks. During the game, players are building up their decks from their own market decks. The object is to dominate the other players each round by having more power points. This one was a close second for me and is 445% funded.

Welcome To… is a 2nd printing of the very popular flip-and-write game from Deep Water Games. This game was a huge hit when it first came out so much so that it demanded a reprint, and I can see why. It is a fast, fun, puzzley game that can play any player count–no really, the box says 1-100. I had a chance to play this one today and really enjoyed it. I printed the player sheet from BGG and played along with a video review. It really is clever and was also a close second for me.

Finally, also receiving three votes is Reavers of Midgard from Grey Fox Games. What else needs to be said? This is a brand new, stand-alone sequel to the smash hit Champions of Midgard, which means more viking plundering fun. Oh, and it is also 940% funded. Really!

I also want to mention a couple other entries this week. First is Krosmaster: Blast. If you are a fan of the original Krosmaster and Krosmaster Jr, this one promises to be a shorter, action-packed version with new amazing minis which you have come to expect from Ankama Board Games.

Lastly we had one vote for Guardians of Wayword from Kid Loves Tiger Games, which is a dice drafting game that can be played competitively or cooperatively. You can check out Brody’s review HERE.
