GobbleCon 2018

Happy Friday Everyone,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Holiday/Weekend (last week). Mine was great as I got to travel to Oklahoma to visit family I haven’t seen in a while. Unfortunately this meant I wasn’t able to hold my annual GobbleCon. Something I am hoping to rectify this weekend. Which brings me to my thought of the week.

GobbleCon Year 1

One of the things I really love about this industry is the traditions that are created by the community. Whether that be weekly/monthly game meetups, game conventions, family game nights, or whatever, games bring us together and that is awesome!

Unfortunately in today’s society there are not many things that do bring us together, so it is nice to have a tool in place and a community of people to help make that happen.

I would love to hear what gaming traditions you have. Please comment below with your favorite one.

Thanks and happy gaming!

I love the traditions that the gaming community has, too!

My own favorite is a very personal one – my husband and I take time during the week of our anniversary each August to play through all the Spiel des Jahres winners since the year we got married (1998!). By this point, that's a huge pile of games but as we play through them over the course of a few days, we remember all the seasons in our lives – which games we played the most as newlyweds, which games we played when our kids were small enough to be sleeping in our arms, which games we play with them now that they're big gamers of their own.
