Gamers in the northeast part of the US have a new convention to look forward to this year... CuseCon will take place in Syracuse, NY from October 4-6th, 2019!

I have been a gamer for all of my adult life (and enjoyed kids' games before that, too) but I haven't been able to attend a convention yet. I hear all the great stories from GenCon and BGGCon, Origins and Geekway to the West, and wish I could get in on the fun.

I was thrilled to find founder Michael Guigliano posting to the BGG forums with his ideas for starting a more local con in upstate New York, and my family picked up badges and a hotel room as soon as they were announced, and since then we've enjoyed the anticipation of picking out our (free) event tickets as well.

I am looking forward to a few competitions, from a Sagrada tournament to the Pandemic: Survivor series, as well as cutting my teeth on a game design workshop and stretching my board game knowledge at trivia night. My partner is signed up for a session of Battletech: Alpha Strike, and my 12-year-old even found a session of kid-friendly dexterity games.

In addition, I am thrilled to finally be able to meet some of the great designers and publishers in the board game community in person! Special guests include Daryl Andrews and Adrian Adamescu (Sagrada!), Catherine Stippell (Nyctophobia!), Ben Harkins, Bobby West, Jonathan Gilmour, Ian Moss, and more. Michael has been doing a great job of promoting this brand-new con on Facebook by spotlighting each of the special guests and inviting them to play "2 Truths and 1 Lie" ahead of the trivia nights.

I am also looking forward to covering CuseCon on behalf of Everything Board Games and would love to hear what you want to know about this inaugural con experience! Please feel free to comment below or to reach out on our Facebook page if you have questions for me--or some good advice!

My name is Alexa: I'm a life-long game player and homeschooling mom to two awesome kids. I've loved board games since my early days playing Scrabble and Gin Rummy with my grandmother, and life only got more interesting when I married a Battletech enthusiast and fellow game lover. We've played games with our kids since they were small, and I helped start a thriving homeschool co-op where we have weekly sessions of board games with kids.  In a family with kids raised on Catan and Pandemic, life is sure to be fun! You may run into me on Twitter, BoardGameGeek, and other social media as MamaGames. Be sure to say hi!
